Rufina's Bio

The Spa for Beautiful Skin is owned by Rufina Fernandez, a native of Paraguay. A former teacher of haute couture, Rufina received her bachelor’s degree in 1987 from Paraquay’s Beauty Culture School, specializing in aesthetic, lymphatic draining and aesthetic massage. Since then, she has gained more than 20 years’ experience in the skincare industry, first in Asuncion, Paraguay, and later in the United States.

Rufina has worked with the Chanel, Elizabeth Arden, Guerlain, Lancome, Origins, Orlane, and Sisley skincare products, and as a former freelance aesthetician, she has shared that expertise with customers of Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and Macys.

As a clinical aesthetician, Rufina has worked in a number of Westchester spas such as the Demirjian Laser Hair Removal Center and Spa in White Plains, the Lightspeed Laser Hair Removal Center and Skin Care of Armonk, Spa Vision of Tomorrow and 2000 Spa, both in Larchmont, Simply Fit for Women of Mamaroneck, and the Korman Communities in White Plains.

Rufina has also studied at the Post-Graduate School International Derma Institute of New York City, where she extended her skills in reflexology, skincare, body therapy, and ingredients technology, and at the Academie of Aesthetics & Wellness, specializing in seaweed body wrap. She is also a New York State licensed skincare specialist and a professional Bio-Ultimate therapist and Bio-Brasion therapist.

A lifelong learner, Rufina holds additional certificates in the use of the Germaine de Capuccini product, Timexpert Lift, a revolutionary new anti-wrinkle treatment with lifting effects; the Certificat “Reafirmez Votre Beauté” from Le Club des Professionals de Paris; and a Diplome d’honneur from the Congres International d’Esthetique Palais de Congres-Paris.

Rufina travels frequently to Europe to learn the latest trends in the beauty care business. In recent years, she has attended and participated in various hands-on workshops hosted by The International Congress of Esthetics Conference. This has taken her to cities across the globe, including Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Miami, Montreal, Philadelphia, and Paris, where Rufina finds the newest and best European products and brings them back to her White Plains spa.
